When Frederick Edward Traugott Krause was born on 29 April 1868, in Vlakfontein, Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa, his father, Dr Carl Johann Gottlieb Krause, was 42 and his mother, Friederike Anna Kellner, was 35. He married Anette Bowyer on 23 February 1907. He immigrated to Quebec, Hardin, Iowa, United States in 1927. He died on 23 August 1959, at the age of 91.
